Understanding trauma
Trauma can be complex, and healing often requires a combination of therapies and approaches. Having experienced CPTSD, I’ve explored various therapies and can confidently say that each has its own value. It’s important to find what resonates with you at each stage of your journey, knowing that what initially helps might evolve over time. I’m here to listen and share my experiences anytime.
Trauma isn't just about what happened to you. It's also about what you missed out on when you needed it most, like a partner who didn't prioritise you or parents who weren't there to protect you.
Trauma can show up in various forms. For instance, feeling constantly overwhelmed, having low energy, or struggling with chronic illness.
Unresolved trauma can make someone more tolerant of toxic behavior, leading to a cycle of unhealthy relationships.
The healing process is ugly. It's not all breathwork, aromatherapy, bubble baths and spa days. Healing is getting to the root of your issues which involves accountability and often feelings of guilt and shame.
To heal we need to relive the trauma through grieving. It is not just grieving the life you lived but often the life you didn't have. This process is as hard as hell but definately worth it.
Let's heal so that we can stop hurting people we love by projecting our wounds and trauma on to them. Let's heal so that we can raise emotionally healthy children.
